Assumptions and Conclusions

This is a model of how our minds draw on our past experiences to make sense of current circumstances. The beliefs we have, what is important to us and our interpretation of the data we process as information.

Every time we engage in a conversation with another person, we are using language of inference. That is we infer truth from our understanding of reality. We believe what is true from our past experiences. A short story as an example:

My husband told me he would be home for dinner at 6 oclock. I believe my husband loves me, that he tells me the truth, and I trust him. At 7 oclock my thoughts are: he lied to me, he doesnt love me, I cant trust him.
